Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) was started in the year 1994. The department offers 4 years Under Graduate (UG) and 2 year Post Graduate (PG) in M.E., Power Systems Engineering from the academic year 2010-2011. The student intake for UG programme is 120 and PG programme is 18. The UG programme was accredited by NBA in the year 2005-06 for three years and reaccredited in the year 2008-09 for 3 years; Accredited by NBA under TIER I category in the year 2014-15 for 3 years and reaccredited in the year 2017- 18 for 3 more years. The department is recognized as a research centre by Anna University, Chennai from the year 2000. The curriculum and syllabus for the programmes offered in the department are designed as per the Regulation 2018 of the autonomous system. The curriculum is designed to achieve a balance between depth of knowledge acquired through specialization and breadth of knowledge gained through exploration. The undergraduate degree courses offered by the department provide a comprehensive foundation in the core topics of EEE coupled with areas of specialization relevant to emerging engineering challenges. The curriculum has been designed to create professional electrical and electronic engineers, who can serve in the fields of core electrical engineering, information and communication systems, and other related fields.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) was started in the year 2002 with an intake of 60 students. Over the years the Department has steadily grown and currently, the student’s intake is 120. Along with B.E., the Department also offers an 0ne M.E., a degree programme in Power Electronics & Drives. The choice-based credit system is introduced in regulation 2018.

The Department has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi. The well qualified and experienced faculties of this Department are committed to achieving excellence in academic programs. The Department has good infrastructure with well-equipped laboratories and an exclusive Departmental library. The Department is regularly organizing programs like International Conference, Seminar, Workshop, Guest lecture, Faculty Development Program etc., with the support of various funding agencies.

Every year the EEE students association is organizing a National Technical Symposium, named “GRID”, to motivate the students in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The department encourages students to involve in In-House Projects and Inter-Departmental Projects. The Department periodically conducts value-added courses and training programs for students to improve their technical skills in theory and practice. The department also runs the IEEE students branch.

The Department has a research center approved by Anna University Chennai to do research leading to Ph.D. The Department has sufficient research supervisors in a variety of fields. The research center facilitates funded projects from DST, AICTE etc.. and consultancy projects. The research center has a good record of Publications and filed patents. Our faculty members are permitted to participate in programmes like FDP, Seminar, Workshop, Conferences and Training programs to update their technical skills.
