Master of Dental Surgery
Master of Dental Surgery is a postgraduate course in the dental sciences. Only graduates of the BDS degree are eligible to pursue the MDS course. This is a three-year specialization course. At present, there are nine approved MDS course streams in India. KSR Institute of Dental Science and Research offers seven approved and recognized MDS courses each year.
MDS - Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics
This specialization deals with the treatment of damaged and decayed teeth, with the sole aim of preserving the teeth, and restoring their function, while still being esthetically pleasing.


MDS - Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge
This specialty deal offers diagnosis, treatment planning and rehabilitation of oral function when teeth are missing due to various reasons. In other words, the replacement of esthetics and function of oral cavity in patients with partially or completely missing teeth is the scope of a prosthodontist.
MDS - Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry
Pedodontists deal with all dental treatments for children. A pedodontist provides total dental care for children and young adolescents. As a part of improving the general dental health of the population, the pedodontist plays an important role by advocating preventive dentistry at a young age.


MDS - Periodontics
This specialization deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to the gums and the supporting structures of the teeth. Periodontists do various non-surgical and surgical procedures as part of their treatment protocol.
MDS - Oral Medicine and Radiology
This specialty deals with the investigation, diagnosis, and medical management of diseases of the oral cavity. These specialists are trained to perform specialized investigations like dental radiographs, extraoral radiographs, sialographs, etc. as part of their training.


MDS - Oral Pathology and Microbiology
Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology is a branch of dentistry and pathology that deals with the identification of diseases of the oral and maxillofacial regions. The essence of this science lies in unraveling the diseases at the macroscopic and microscopic levels. MDS programme in oral pathology is a 3-year curriculum where the students are trained to excel in disease diagnosis and also to become accomplished academicians.
