The National Institutional Ranking Framework is a methodology adopted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, to rank institutions of higher education in India. The Framework was approved by the MHRD and launched by the Minister of Human Resource Development on 29 September 2015.

The framework outlines a methodology to draw from the overall recommendations broad understanding arrived at by a Core Committee set up by MHRD, to identify the parameters for ranking various universities and institutions. The parameters are 1) Teaching, Learning and Resources 2) Research and Professional Practices 3) Graduation Outcomes 4) Outreach and Inclusivity & 5) Perception.
